Your Pregnancy, Week by Week

The advice for pregnancy (especially what’s aimed at Black women)falls into one of two categories:

You should be afraid. You and your baby might die. This is an incredibly dangerous event and you cannot trust your body or your baby.

OR

You should just give birth at home, away from the doctors. Do things as naturally as possible and stay away from medicine.

But what we have learned as doulas is that the truth is usually not at either extreme.

Instead of pregnancy apps that give you nothing but fluff, or advice that shouts over you in “shoulds”, and fear, what if you could have some weekly encouragement and guidance to trust yourself as a mother?

That’s our weekly email series. It was written by Black doulas, and is specially designed for women like you:

You’re Black and pregnant, and that means you’re powerful, not weak.

You want your pregnancy to be about more than just doctor’s appointments. You want to feel connected to your baby and your support system.

You’re probably going to give birth in the hospital, but you want to do it on your terms.
