Meet Your Doula: Ashenia Haydel

I’ve lived here for 20 years and currently live in Temple Hills Maryland.  

I’ve made great friends and built lasting relationships.  I love that there is always something to do no matter what you are interested in.

What’s your favorite place to eat in the DC area?

This is tough because I’m a foodie. I don’t think I have a favorite place but I do have favorite dishes at many places lol

What does your ideal Saturday look like?

Depending on my week an ideal Saturday could be just lounging around, resting and getting in some quality snuggle time with my 2 daughters or time to get fancy and hit the town with my friends.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

This is also tough because I love to travel and experience different cultures.  If I could go anywhere I would go everywhere! This world is so big and beautiful I want to see and experience as much as I can.

What do you want to be when you grew up?

I want to be a valued person of service to my family and my community.  Right now I think I’m fulfilling that by being the best Mom I can be and being a doula.

Why did you become a doula? Why do you work with DC Metro Maternity?

I became a doula because being around pregnant moms and their babies brings me so much joy! The woman’s bodies is incredible- it knows what to do and when. A pregnant woman’s instincts are amazing and I want to help support women in trusting that instinct.  We birth and raise nations. It’s so important that we are supported in that process.

I work for DC Metro Maternity simply because our values and mission are aligned.
