How long have you lived in the DC area?
I’ve lived in the DC area for 15 years. I moved here from southern California for college and fell in love with the east coast!
What do you love about living in the DC area?
I love that there’s no shortage of things to do in DC. From film screenings to food truck festivals, I’m never bored.
What’s your favorite place to eat in the DC area?
I love to grab brunch at The Pub and People in Bloomingdale and I also love, love, love Thip Khao in Petworth.

What does your ideal Saturday look like?
My ideal Saturday is sleeping in a bit and either making an epic at home brunch with my wife, Erika, or heading out to our favorite dim sum spot. Then we’d spend some time in Rock Creek Park, or go to the Natural History Museum, one of our favorite Smithsonians.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Oh, that’s a tough one! I’d probably choose Thailand. It’s an awesome mix of beautiful beaches, adventure, and great food.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a high school Spanish teacher for years. Of course, that was until I did my fieldwork in high schools and realized that maybe teenagers weren’t my calling lol.
Why did you become a doula? Why do you work with DC Metro Maternity?
As soon as I learned what a doula was, I felt drawn to the work. Helping to improve outcomes during the birth and postpartum period is something that is very important to me. I wanted to work with DC Metro Maternity because I feel like they’re a team of doulas who match my passion and beliefs about birth work.
