How long have you lived in the DC area?
I have 8 months in the DC area and loving it.
What do you love about living in the DC area?
Love all the diversity and how close I am to NYC to visit my family.
What’s your favorite place to eat in the DC area?
Cuba de Ayer in Burtonsville, MD! Love it especially their cortadito.
What does your ideal Saturday look like?
Taking walks with my husband and my dog Neemo, and exploring DC metro area.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
This is a tough one for me, but I’ll say Egypt! It’s on my bucket list.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I’m doing it right now as a birth worker.
Why did you become a doula? Why do you work with DC Metro Maternity?
I have been a doula without knowing what the title was. Since a young girl, I always helped women with their pregnancy and postpartum. Seeing a woman with her belly was miraculous and a magical art piece that was taking place. It showed me how powerful women are. Both of my grandmothers were midwives and taught me that if I do things with love they have a better outcome.
What I love working with DC Metro Maternity is that I am working with powerful women that are making a change in the DC metro area and it is an honor for me to be working side by side with them.

Yenie is such an exceptional doula. I gave birth in November 2018 where Yenie was such an essential part of not only my labor and delivery but my entire pregnancy. She was always so in tune with what I was going through and had a wealth of knowledge on resources to help me through my first pregnancy and all the fears associated with that. Having a doula trained in hypnobirthing was a blessing! Yenie, together with my midwife, assisted me in having the most beautiful birthing experience. Although it was 14 hours, I felt supported every step of the way. We had a birth plan and even though things did not go exactly as planned the peace and serenity in the room from the dim lights, to the music to the essential oils being diffused created such a powerful and spiritual experience. My baby boy came into the world in a room full of love. It was also amazing how Yenie made sure to incorporate my husband and how he could be a part of the process as well. Everyone that gets to have Yenie as a doula is so lucky!
I have the privilege of knowing Yenie, and even though I did not have her as my doula for my pregnancy, she was always there for me. Always offering advise, knowledge & her ear for those not so jolly days. She helped me so much during my postpartum as well, always giving tips and offering her time when I needed it most. You can feel that she comes from a place of love and genuine care every time you speak to her. I highly recommend Yenie, she’s simply the best!
Yenie is such a sweetheart! She helped me out so much throughout my pregnancy and answered any questions I had. She is super reliable and such a loving and caring person. I highly recommend her!

I suffered through a very difficult pregnancy. Dealing with medical conditions and Doctors who would not advocate for me, it was essential having Yenie in my corner. She was respectful but supported my decisions for my birth all the way. I was induced, vomiting, uncomfortable, in pain, not feeling respected by my doctors. Having the support of Yenie and another doula made my labor all the difference. Three days in labor would have made me go insane if Yenie was not there. If I could thank her in a million ways I would. I’ve tried but nothing suffices for someone as knowledgeable, loving and caring as she is. Yenie Loves what she does and it shows in her care. I only wish I could’ve hired her for my postpartum care because she’s just amazing!!

Yenie is an amazing doula, she played such an important role in my last pregnancy. I gave birth to my son in May 2017, his birth was not like most; he was born via VBAC- which stands for Vaginal Birth After C-Section. For my first child I had also planned for a natural birth but due to complications I had to get an emergency c-section, which was a traumatic experience for me. Since having a c-section I always knew that if I had more children in the future I was determined to birth through a VBAC. I was very nervous about it, especially since many doctors don’t like to recommend VBACs, but Yenie’s hypnobirthing knowledge, experience, and positivity filled me with the courage I needed to believe in myself. She got me to believe “I can do this.” Her guidance, advice, and training throughout my whole pregnancy were the reasons behind my successful VBAC. I recommend her to anyone looking for an amazing doula, because you’ll be in great hands.
Yenie came highly recommended to me and she does not disappoint. I feel like I can talk to her about anything- the good, the bad and the VERY UGLY aspects of pregnancy and I do not feel judged. She gives great advice and checks in with me regularly. I am so happy she is my doula and I feel much more confident about the birthing process.
