The weather has finally broken, and it’s SPRING! Yay! Whether you have the distinct pleasure of being pregnant just in time for DC humidity, or you’re emerging from your postpartum baby bubble, it’s time to celebrate! Break out the warm weather beauty routine!

If you’re like me, one of the first things it’s time to do is shave your legs and paint your toes. Or perhaps, if you’re in your third trimester and can’t really reach your knees, you’re getting someone who loves you to do it. (Fun fact: as a labor and postpartum doula, I’ve definitely painted client’s nails before. It’s a classic girl bonding technique- why not?)

One thing that people start to think about, when they’re pregnant, is just how many chemicals we put on and in our bodies in the name of being cute. Personally, I’m not too worried about it, so no judgment if you’re using Wet ‘n Wild 99 cent polish too.

But I completely understand mothers and expectant pregnant women, wanting to be a bit more careful about their beauty routine.

After all, you’re watching your nutrition, drinking water, and embracing rest in the name of your baby. Why not be cautious with your beauty routine?

As your doulas, and fellow embracers of the glow up and the warm weather, we’re helping you out!

Here are 4 brands of non-toxic nail polish made by black women (that’s our thing), that you can use to pain your pregnant toes, or your two-year-old’s!

4 nail polish companies approved by a doula in waldorf, hyattsville, takoma park, silver spring, alexandria & DC

So, paint your nails, your daughter’s nails, your uncle’s nails, whoever! You know that you can do it without putting chemicals on tiny hands that are immediately going in their mouth.

We’re here to instill confidence in your decisions. Right down to your nail polish.
